#TBT: Toejam and Earl: Panic on Funkatron!

To be perfectly honest I don’t remember much about the story of this game. Humans are on the planet and they are sucking all the funk away and you need to capture them all (GOTTA CATCH ‘EM ALL!!!) and send them back to Earth. Other than that I don’t remember much about the gist of the game, other than you play as a red guy named Toejam or as Patrick from SpongeBob Squarepants. And let me tell you, this game is a TON of fun! I don’t remember the first time I played it…I’m sure it was on the Genesis in the Genesis days but I’m not 100% positive. I mostly played it with my sisters and cousin and I still play with my one cousin to this day, the game is a blast, so if you haven’t played it I recommend it!Panic!? What human!?

The music is well done, the game is easy to pick up and get right into, there are interesting character designs, and the varying enemies offer good variety in both looks and what they can do. Some can take pictures of you and unless you’re protecting your eyes you get stunned. Some disappear and reappear somewhere else. Some just run around obnoxiously. Some use attack you with projectiles, others are dogs, etc. Huge variety in enemies. You catch them by throwing jars at them that after enough hits captures them and you pick them up and send them to Earth at the end of the level. There’s a little pointer at the bottom of the screen that shows you where to go next as far as humans are concerned so make sure you keep an eye on that. A green arrow (no, not the hero lol) indicates you’ve gotten them all and that you’re a Pokemon master and that you get to go to the next region!

The game is co-op as well as single player and it’s a blast with a friend/cousin/human/robot overlord so I for sure suggest you play it with somebody if you can. It’s one of the most fun couch co-op games I’ve ever personally ever played so I recommend the game for sure! It’s one of the best throwback games you’ll ever enjoy!
