Sonic Mania: Man, it’s looking awesome!!

Okay so I’ve been a Sonic/Sega fan since Sonic 2 and having a Genesis as a kid and being a fan of the house that Sonic built never went away, mostly for Sonic’s sake. Sure there are other Sega games I love that aren’t related to Sonic at all, but for me Sonic is my favorite game series of all time and that’ll never change. Final Fantasy, Batman, Kingdom Hearts, and many more are in the race for 2nd, and it’s a tight race, but Sonic is forever my number one, that’s always going to be the case until I’m long ago a memory. So hearing that Sega had a game in the works that basically is supposed to be an answer to what if Sega never stopped making Genesis games makes me happy. I’ve mentioned that before I know but it bears repeating.

Since announcing the game Sega hasn’t shown much about it yet, other than the more than incredible Collector’s Edition *cue fangirl scream* but that changed the other day with another gameplay video that shows off all 3 Sonic Maniaplayable characters (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles) and even a brand new Zone! The game looks better and better each time I see it and I just can’t wait for the game. It looks just like Sega never stopped making the classic Sonic games, and that is a very good thing. Don’t get me wrong, Sega did a great job with Sonic Boom Fire and Ice and if they made their typical 2D games based on it from now on I’d be very happy with that. It’s fast, has a lot of different gameplay options in minigames and things like that, and is just a great game overall.

And the new big 2017 game sounds like it’ll be good as well, or looks it at least, since it gives off Sonic Generations vibes, and c’mon, that game was incredible! But you can’t beat the good old Genesis games, not in my opinion, and that’s not just nostalgia talking, because I still boot those games up and love playing them even today. Sega did a great job on them and they’re still blast, no matter how many hundreds upon hundreds of times I’ve sat down to play them. This game looks very much like it’ll fit that bill while at the same time letting you see a great amount of nostalgia as well, and I can’t wait for that. There are a ton of great games coming out in the near future, but none can compare to this one, not to me. It screams Genesis and yet is brand new and I just plain can’t hide my excitement for this game! Bravo Sega, bravo! Check out that gameplay clip here!
