Five Nights at Freddy’s is one of the hottest games around right now. Several people think it’s gotten a little too much attention, but that’s really down to interpretation. With such a major series you’ll have copycats that try to shoe in on the success, and in the case of a lot of Five Nights at Freddy’s games, they have been good. Really good. All of them are fan games that are free to play, so there aren’t any worries about having to pay to play. Some of them I’ve written about before, like Five Nights At Treasure Island and Five Nights at Wario’s and I’ve enjoyed those games quit a lot. But I figured I’d look to see if there were any good ones that I missed, and what do you know, I had! This game is called One Night at Flumpty’s and it’s quite intense (and tons of fun).
In this game you, the player, have been kidnapped by Flumpty Bumpty and you’re playing a friendship game, since he’s not good at social skills, with his friends. If you avoid a jumpscare by 6 am you get to be his new best friend! If you get jumpscared you die. It’s a funny story, especially considering the question: why would you want to be friends with your kidnapper? As for the game itself, the biggest difference between this game and Freddy is that there is only one night, so that’s all you have to survive. And there aren’t any real instructions via a phone person this time around, you’re basically on your own. The look and feel of this game is a good balance of creepy and bright, yet still it can be scary. I’ve found that in some ways this game is more intense than Freddy, for sure when you compare the first Freddy night to the one night here. It’s a challenge to pass the friendship test but one that’s fun. It may just be me but sometimes it feels like Flumpty can book it like no other and can appear and disappear at extreme speeds, even faster than in Freddy, but that very well could just be me.
The game is great fun! It looks great and it plays very smoothly, just as good as anything I’ve enjoyed with Freddy. The base of the game is pretty similar to Freddy in that you have lights to turn on and off and a door on either side that you can shut, but the game itself feels different enough that it’s more than worth a look. And it can scare the crap out of you, which is the whole point of a game like this right? The developers of this game did a great job and I think you’ll enjoy the game yourself. And there is a sequel game as well, which I’ll also give a look and see if it’s any good as well! I expect good things. I don’t dislike anything about this game so on that note I give this a 9/10. It’s not perfect but it has no glaring issues and is a fun game! Definitely the best Freddy copy out there to date, at least as far as I can tell.
