My 3 most recent most played smartphone games!

Smartphone games have been deemed by many gamers to be a bit of a joke, treated as something to not take seriously. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s that you don’t use a controller to play them and a “real” game needs a controller to count (though you can play several games with controllers on smartphones). Maybe it’s because a lot of smartphone games are, admittedly, casual in nature. Not all of them but you see Candy Crush Saga and many, many games like that all over the place. Maybe it’s something else entirely. Either way, smartphone games haven’t generally been treated with the same respect as the bigger games you find on PC and consoles, but that has been changing lately. And I’m glad to see it.

Granted I’ll be the first to agree, there is shovleware everywhere in the smartphone gaming world, so much so that it’s a bit disappointing in a way. But there are actually a lot of solid, multi-million dollar earners in the field as well, so this isn’t a gaming world to be taken lightly no matter your personal feelings. So I figured I’d come up with a list of the 3 smartphone games I’ve been playing the most lately to give you an idea or two (or literally three lol) for some games that very well may be worth downloading! Something great about the smartphone world is that there are a lot of games that are free to play or are very cheap in general so there generally isn’t $60 plus dollars being blown on a game that you may not like. So without further adieu, here are my top 3 smartphone games I’ve played recently!

1. Pokemon Go. Okay, so it’s very likely you’ve played this game yourself and don’t need me to tell you about it. So I won’t. But let me tell you this game is exactly the type of thing that gives smartphone gaming a huge edge over the rest of the gaming world. You can’t use GPS and your real life positions on your PS4/Xbox One/Wii U/PC to play Pokemon Go. You Pokemoncan’t use your portable consoles either. You can only use your phone to play a game like this and it’s done quite well. *Ahem aside from the messed up tracking, ugh*. This is the ultimate phone game right now and if/when they improve it it’ll only bring in more and more in all ways; players, revenue, attention, you name it. This is the big game right now and I recommend you….well give it a look. They need to fix some of what they took away, but honestly it’s still fun in a group. I played with my sisters and my cousin the other day and I have to say it still offered a great time, so give it a shot!

2. Sonic the Hedgehog 2. There are about 1,000,000 versions of this game across every console on the planet it seems. Not really, but you know there are a lot of versions out there for real. But the smartphone version is unique in a very big way: Hidden Palace Zone. This level doesn’t, officially anyways, exist in Sonic 2 anywhere else in the world than in the smartphone game, and that’s awesome. How cool is it to this day and age to have a brand new level, brand new enemies, new places and paths to discover in this classic game right now? It’s awesome. The game is the best version I’ve ever played as far as looks and sound are concerned and you can’t beat the extra hidden level. This is THE version of Sonic 2 to play.

3. Real Racing 3/Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key. This is a tie because I play each game as much as the other. The Kingdom Hearts game is fun because it’s a Kingdom Hearts game where you design your own character and take a run through the famous Keyblade War from Birth by Sleep. I’d like to see more story from it (then again I haven’t beaten it yet so who knows), the game feels a lot like you’re constantly doing side missions with an occasional story mission thrown in, but other than that feeling the game is fun. It’s a feeling, you are doing story stuff a lot but if you’ve played it you know what I’m talking about. Real Racing 3 is great for nothing else, to me, the NASCAR part of it. I love NASCAR and this is the best portable NASCAR game, well, ever honestly. There are other gameplay modes and I need to mess around with those but for me it’s a portable NASCAR game and it plays very well so this is a must play if you like car racing for sure.
